Municipalities typically require a water backflow prevention device at each plumbing cross-connection of multi-unit structures, to protect drinking water and the city water supply from contaminants.
While the type backflow prevention device will vary to accommodate the degree of hazard, the need to annually test and certify backflow devices does not.
